Gloriana de la Vega

Description:

Beliefs for Session 16

  • The Dwarven power structure has suffered a major blow. In this time of crisis, the elves must cement our role by functioning as power brokers. I will establish a connection with someone in a position of power in the dwarven church.
  • Glugrat’s revolution must remain a local affair. I will warn the approaching warships so that the contagion be prevented from spreading to our other troops.
  • If the dwarven church fails, this territory will fall into barbarism, losing its value as a trading partner for the elves. I will demonstrate to Glugrat or Philip the value of tempering rage with moderation.

Instincts

  • In this time of crisis, my song-singers travel with me, prepped for Voice of Ages.
  • I am the Cynosure of All Eyes—always conspicuously condescending.
  • Glugrat is now a force to be reckoned with. Always know where he is and what he’s doing.

Belief History Log
Third Session
  • If Glugrat is a servant and not a slave, his loyalty must be tested. Give him a chance to prove his loyalty.
  • The Dwarves can be made to feel greed for elven culture. Sell them on the value of intangibles like song.
  • The fount of forgetfulness beckons. Obtain knowledge of the lands to the interior.

Fourth Session

  • I will gain a permanent embassy from the Dwarf lords at the Feast.
  • My wrath is fierce. I will make those who betray me at the feast pay for their insolence.
  • The fount of forgetfulness beckons. Philip will tell me stories of its sovereign powers.

Fifth Session

  • Forgetfulness is death in disguise. I will punish any elf who drinks from the fountain.
  • Forge Master Mignar is a rascal, but also a genius with an eye for elvish goods. I will forge a direct alliance with him.
  • After the role he played in getting the orc chattel shore leave, Glugrat cannot be counted upon to discipline them. I will oversee him directly and personally see to inflicting discipline.

Sixth Session

  • Forgetfulness is death in disguise. I will punish any elf who drinks from the fountain.
  • I must sing once more, but Ás-Megin has withheld his aid. I will obtain an audience with the Guardian of the Fountain.
  • Longbeard Thrunar opposes trade with the elves (and I have dirt on his secret alliance with Glugrat that can discredit him). I will identify a rival dwarf in a position of authority with whom I can ally myself.

Seventh Session

  • Forgetfulness is death in disguise. I will find and punish those elves who seek to drink from the Fountain of Lethe. Completed by punishing Loremaster Lleandro
  • I must sing once more. I will gain knowledge of the nature of my curse from the Guardian of the Fountain. Completed instructed by Nolgor to search within the heat of the mountain for a cure.
  • The conservatism of Dwarven culture can be opposed by providing an alternative. I will sponsor a series of soirees that will provide young, creative dwarves with an outlet—while at the same time exposing them to the beneficent influence of Elvish ways. The inaugural event will be a contest among smiths, to be judged by participants. Step 1: raise $$ for a prize. Completed money raised for party; prize itself is two bars (50 lbs each) of silvery elvish metal.

Eighth Session

  • Glugrat’s arrogance grows beyond bounds. I will shorten his leash and bring him to heel.
  • I must sing once more. I will make an expedition into the heart of the mountain.
Step 2: send out invitations to a short list of just the right people.

Ninth Session

  • The elves doubt my promotion of Glugrat. I will ensure his authority goes unquestioned.
  • I must sing once more.
  • The heart of the mountain sustains the life of Dwarven religion. I will recover and bring back a token that forces them to rethink the nature of their faith.

Tenth Session

  • The heart of the mountain sustains the life of Dwarven religion. I will recover and bring back a token that forces them to rethink the nature of their faith.
  • Loremaster Lleandro doubts my promotion of Glugrat. I discover evidence of his treachery during my absence.
Step 3: seek out a cook able to provide simple, savory Dwarven fare.

Eleventh Session

  • The skull of the former warden can be used to drive a wedge between the Dwarven church and secular government. Step 1: I will make sure that the archivist reaches the right conclusions.
  • Loremaster Lleandro doubts my promotion of Glugrat. I will discover evidence of his treacherous conspiracy with the conservative Dwarven church.
  • By providing young, creative dwarves with an outlet, while at the same time exposing them to the beneficent influence of Elvish ways, I will prove to Warden Sigismir that I am a true benefactor to Dwarvish society.

Twelfth Session

  • The skull of the former warden can be used to drive a wedge between the Dwarven church and secular government. Step 2: bring the Archivist under the influence of Philip the Fatherless.
  • Loremaster Lleandro doubts my promotion of Glugrat. I will discover evidence of his treacherous conspiracy with the conservative Dwarven church.
  • The Elven Embassy cannot operate under suspicion of the Dwarven authorities. Publicly demonstrate that Philip the Fatherless is not under our protection.

Thirteenth Session

  • The skull of the former warden can be used to drive a wedge between the Dwarven church and secular government. I will persuade Sigismir to place the Bishop on trial.
  • Philip has ties in the Dwarven church. I will persuade him to find someone who can testify to the perfidy of the religious high council.
  • The Elven Embassy cannot operate under suspicion of the Dwarven authorities. Philip cannot be admitted to the embassy, Glugrat be damned!

Fifteenth Session

  • Driving a wedge between the Dwarven church and secular government, I will persuade Sigismir to accept Elven aid.
  • Philip is digging up dirt on the Clerics of the Dwarven Church. I will persuade him to turn this evidence over to the Elves.
